Pushing Back the Date

so sadly today is the end of my three day weekend, and I'm spending all day doing homework : ( I'm trying really hard to catch up, but I have no idea how I am going to get the 7 overdue papers done it is just so overwhelming.

Speaking of overwhelming Tom and I are changing our wedding date to May 2009 because both of us have really felt like planning the wedding has been a huge burden, because we just don't have the time. I'm stuck in a wheelchair for a few more weeks and have been in it since July so I need help doing just about anything, and the most I can really do wedding wise is search online for cool ideas. Tom works almost 40 hours a week, and we are both full time students, so part of what is going to get us over arriving at May 30, 2008 and being sad we aren't married is that at least this way we will be able to have fun planning the wedding. We really wanted cake choices and of course Tom wanted to try different cakes, and we both really wanted to hear different DJs to make a decision, plus we haven't been able to save us much money as we would like, so having a full extra year will be a huge benefit. The main reason is of course I can't have my surgery during school, so it will have to be this summer, but hopefully towards the end of the summer we can do some major planning in KC, even though I'll still be in a wheelchair.

Has anyone else had to move their date? How did you or how do you think you will feel when the original date occurs?

Just a heads up on whats going on in my life, we are pushing back the wedding date from May 30th 2008 to sometime in May 2009. The first ankle surgery was extremely hard on me and I ended up a ton of medication for anxiety, depression, etc. which by the looks of things can be reduced in November to one ADHD medication based on the evalutation I will be taking. Needless to say I cannot have the second surgery during spring semester. As it is I am sitting with 7 late papers that haven't been started, learning a lot of Latin, tons and tons of reading, and a website to design for my one extra curricular I decided to keep (I'm an officer, webmaster of Sigma Tau Delta the English Frat)

I will try to update a lot more, probably not everyday, but I have tons of projects and such I will want to start in December, plus all the holidays in my life are coming up Oct-Jan. Yesterday 10/19 was Tom and I's fifth anniversary. He spent way too much money, but I adore him. I'm trying to clear through my list of friends b/c it has gotten huge, if you could just reply and let me know if you still read mine, it would help me out a lot. Thanks!!!!

DIY stuff that needs a home

So I have this table full of stuff. It has all been collecting there and I've been trying to find a place to set-up and organize everything, but because I'm still in a wheelchair (until early October). I can't really do anything with it, though

I do have some ideas now. We got our first engagement gift the day before my surgery at Tom's grandfather's funeral and we still haven't wrote a thank you note. It kind of got forgotten in the healing process. Now that I remember, I realize I also need a thank you note spot. I have an extremely long corner desk and I think once I can walk again, I will be clearing everything but the printer off and making it the wedding station. Maybe I will do a mock up soon and you all can steal my organizing ideas. The gray box by the way is holding all the free stuff I have gotten out of the mail that will be perfect for OOT baskets and bathroom baskets, the brown one on top of that, is about 20 coloring/activity books that I got free online for the kids table. In the back is my big bulky skirt to wear under the dress and my tiara and other things to wear with my dress are in the Davids bridal bag.

Speaking of which, I will be picking up my dress next weekend!!!!! It has been in since right after my surgery over 2 1/2 months ago, so you can only imagine how impatient I am. I probably won't get a pic of me in it because I'm still in the wheelchair, but I will try to get a picture of it (its in ivory not the white from the pics from before). I will also try to get good pics of my veil and tiara and all that good stuff to add to the post.

I really should use my camera more often.

Everything else up there is pretty much bags of stuff for DIY projects. Table cards, guest book, kids table, favors, etc.

Feel free to ask for pictures or particular updates, maybe it will motivate me to post and take pictures more often.

Lucky aka trouble seems to like to be near all the important gadgets in our household, the exact spot he is in is normally where we keep the wii system, it just happened we were playing a gamecube game (Can you name it?), so we moved it to the floor so the cords on the controllers would reach.

I'm going to try to pull pictures off my facebook so I don't have to download them to something else. Let me know if you can't see the pics and I'll go ahead and do it the other way. Sorry they are so big.

Anyways, I had my surgery July 10th and then spent up until the day before the party recovering (some in the hospital, some at my moms) The party was great it lasted 3-4 days (Aug. 5-8) people left when they needed to (almost all of them are from out of town)

This is what my living room looked like with some cleaning. If you notice, playstation 2, wii, memory cards, playstation and game cube (for the wii) controllers, and of course video games, and a DDR mat. Can you guess what kind of party we had!!!!

Not really much to update about.... actually thats completely untrue I just haven't felt like updating I'm still trying to improve upon my recovery so I'm always exhausted after pushing myself all day, plus somewhere along the way i lost a lot of readership and apparently taken off several friends list, and the point of using xanga for me was feedback and ideas, and to help others, none of which seem to be happening, though I'll take a stab at the last one.

Anyone in the KC, MO area I just booked my videographer, he is absolutely amazing, his videos are incredible, he is the nicest guy in the work, he does photojournalism style and he is incredibly easy to get along with and really well priced.

Food for a great price

My mom just told me about this great thing that a lot of towns do Angel Food Ministries I guess it used to be for the poor (they take food stamps) but the only way they can help the poor is by getting more people involved no matter how much money they make. You don't have to belong to a church or even be religious, you just order your food by the correct day and then pick it up on the day listed. Fortunately I have one in Kirksville, but depending on where you live you might have to travel to a town or so away.

They use name brand stuff and buy everything in bulk. They change the package every month, but its supposed to be enough food for a family of four or five to last a week, so if you live by yourself or with a roomate, you could end up with a month's worth of food. The cost is $25 for the package, then if you buy that there are meat specials where you can get tons of good steaks, chicken, hamburger, etc. There are three packages to choose from or you can buy all three or just two. Each of those are $18 per package. Tom and I starting next month I believe. It will basically be a months worth of good food if not more when we add the meat package we like for a total of $43. Plus we will probably milk and chocolate milk and a few things we like that weren't included from the store, but we should still spend less than $100 which is much better than the $200 we normallly spend in a month.

Hopefully nobody is offended, I promise its not really religious a lot of the pick up locations are at churches, but there is denomination or church attendance required. The point is to help the community. I hope this helps some else out.

Hey everyone, I hope weddings and planning have been going well. Sorry for such a long absence, there were some complications after the surgery and I ended up in the hospital. No wireless : ( Today is my first day home, I'm not sure how well I will be able to catch up with everyone, but I will try. I probably won't post as much until I feel better, but I'll try to post every once in a while.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes they mean a lot, it keeps me trying to work on my skills (wheel chair, walker etc.), the great news is I should have tons of stuff to blog about as soon as I'm up to it. My mom brought me a ton of bridal magazines and between her, my sister, and I we came up with some awesome ideas!!!

P.s. Katie- I will be home in time for the party, sometime around the 2nd or 3rd of August and the bridal party, party is Sun 4-6th or so (feel free to bring Jeff, and obviously since you are so close come as you please those days and I'll let you know if we do anything major like start Mario Party tournments or a major dinner or something!!

Hectic Week

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Oddly the wake was really fun, basically a big family and friend get together (Tom's grandfather had parkinsons for over 20 years and his death was very expected, so it gave people time to grieve before the wake). The funeral at the church was sad, but I learned a lot about how his grandfather used to be (WWII veteran, fought at the Battle of the Bulge, coached little league, etc.) They did a big lunch for everyone that attended the funeral at a nearby restaraunt, also fun and everyone asked about the wedding. We got our first engagement gift!!! (More on that later this week hopefully)

Next up ankle surgery at noon (July 10). Then a week of doing nothing recovery (also three months of recovery period before I can walk on my left foot.

Also we basically have our videographer booked. He is holding our date until we can meet with him in two weeks (b/c of funeral and surgery). And our photographer is booked!!!! Sorry if I don't reply to anything, its been hectic, I promise I will catch up soon though. And thanks again to everyone!!!!

I will still add people to the dress post if you haven't seen it, and I did get another post up, but Tom grandfather died last night so we are heading to IL, the actual funeral is Monday, so we will then be rushing to Kansas City for my surgery on Tuesday July 10th. So I don't know how much posting I will get to, but I will for sure add people to the protected dress post whenever I'm online. Hope everyone had a good fourth July, congrats to all the upcoming gals getting married!!!

Thanks to everyone for all the good thoughts, sorry I can't personally respond to everyone, and also there is no wireless in IL, so I will be limited on any internet until my surgery. Thanks again, you guys are all so great!!!

The other dresses

My mom actually bought her dress before I even tried on any. I have no issues with this fact, despite websites saying that I should have my dress first. I love what she picked out. The color is champaign and she found the cutest purse to go with the dress. The day she bought the dress and purse she was really on roll. Kristin tried on several dresses, while my mom really only needed to try on one and fell in love with it. We actually walked out of the store without getting the dress, but I could tell my mom really liked the dress and I said before I had no problems with her getting hers first so Kristin, Tom and I convinced her to go back and get it, then she added the purse.

The purse you can see in the top picture, she got it on sale because it is going out of season this one is still pretty similar just more plain. You can also see the similar one here.

My mom's shoes in champaign to match the dress (they look really dark in the pic for some reason) They are called Marissa I believe (Davids Bridal).

Everything else was bought the day I bought my dress (about a month later) including my mom's shoes.

Here is my sister (MOH) in the bridesmaid dress we picked out. If you notice it has a similar side style to my dress.
